La Vida Liverpool In The Mix is a series of exclusive mixes from some of Merseyside’s best DJs to celebrate our thriving scene and provide you with some delightful sounds for your listening pleasure. This mix is provided by Bear Growls.
Liverpool based DJ/Producer, Bear Growls, plays cosmic disco, electronica, house, soul, funk, psych and anything groovin’, and has a wealth of experience playing at top festivals around the UK. He is one of only a select few Tim Peaks Diner residents on Tim Burgess’ (The Charlatans front man) festival stages, and has played at festivals such as Glastonbury, Kendal Calling, Festival No.6, Sound City and Isle Of White Festival. His Glastonbury performance saw him featured in the Gigwise Top 20 highlights and saw him compared to a young Mr. Scruff.
As well as DJing at top festivals, he regularly plays locally at venues such as Constellations and The Baltic Market, and has recently supported the likes of Todd Terje, Greg Wilson and Giles Peterson. Dubbed ‘The Purveyor of the cosmic boogie’, his music is influenced by the likes of Psychemagik, Larry Levan and Louie Vega. In this exclusive mix for La Vida Liverpool, he delivers one of his funky, cosmic creations perfect for a summer chill. The mix, he’s entitled ‘Summer Blaze’, has taken inspiration from the likes of Nightmares On Wax and Zero 7 and features chillout, psych, electronica and cosmic disco. Enjoy….
