One of Merseyside’s longest standing family businesses, Mackie Memorials was historically based on Rake Lane in Wallasey but the new premises has recently moved to the heart of Liscard. Thomas was keen to keep the business going after previous owner Alan retired following 40 years of service and works with his mother to continue the services.

Thomas explained: “Mackie Memorials is one of the oldest independent family businesses in Merseyside and one that’s served an important purpose in honouring loved ones for 135 years now. Mackie Memorials has provided headstones for around 100,000 people, providing a special memory and tangible thing that people can visit.”
He continued: “When I heard Alan was retiring I wanted to step in and keep the business going. Family businesses like Mackie Memorials are an integral part of society — institutions that have served people for generations. It is a great honour to keep the family name going and taking it into the fourth generation.”
