Comedy legend, Stan Boardman, is coming to the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton on Friday 10th October for one evening only! Expect lots of laughs, as well as intriguing life stories and special celebrity guest appearances, from Liverpool’s comic legend.
Stan’s story is truly inspiring. As a three-year-old boy, Stan lost his older brother, Tommy, during a bomb raid by the Nazis during the Second World War. Since this tragic event, which altered Stan’s life forever, he has gone on to have a long and successful comedy career.
Stan Boardman, now 87 years old, has been gracing comedy stages and TV screens since his children persuaded him to enter a weekly talent contest while on holiday at Butlin’s, and he went on to win first prize. Little did he know, but that talent competition was one of many heats in a much larger competition. Stan progressed through each heat to earn a place in the grand finale, which saw him take to the stage at the London Palladium, and he went on to win.
Since then, he has performed hundreds of stand-up gigs across the world and appeared in TV shows, including ‘Opportunity Knocks’ and ‘The Comedians’. Alongside a hilarious stand-up comedy routine from Stan, he will also be interviewed live on stage, with answers guaranteed to make you laugh or cry.
Moreover, there will be plenty of never-before-heard stories! Additionally, while Stan is being interviewed, there will also be a huge screen displaying pictures of his life and the most important moments. The event coincides with the release of Stan’s book ‘Stan Boardman – My Life Story’, which he will be signing after the show – so make sure to stick around once the curtains close!
Speaking about the event, Stan said: “It’s important for me to have the launch of my book ‘Stan Boardman – My Life Story’ here in Merseyside because it is where I grew up. Over the years, I have performed at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton many times, doing pantomimes as well as stand-up shows, and it has become a special place for me.
He continued: “From the stage door, I can actually look across the Mersey to Liverpool and see where I was born and where I lived before the bombs hit in 1941. I can’t wait to tell people my life story, and it will be a one-off brilliant night, full of nostalgia, emotion, and laughter.”
