Liverpool is set to groove as world-renowned trumpeter, composer and arranger Philip Lassiter brings a full-throttle night of funk to the Philharmonic Music Room on Tuesday 3rd February, with doors at 7pm. A unique chance to experience one of Prince’s key musicians in an intimate setting, this is a live show not to be missed.
Lassiter has been knee-deep in the funk for decades. Best known as the horn arranger and section leader for Prince’s New Power Generation, he played a crucial role in shaping the sound of one of the most electrifying live bands in modern music. That legacy of bold brass lines, tight grooves and fearless creativity runs straight through everything Lassiter does today.
An 11-time Grammy Award-winning arranger, Lassiter’s musical roots are as rich as they are varied — drawing from Texas funk, Alabama gospel, New Orleans jazz and Nashville soul. This melting pot of influences has helped him develop a sound that is instantly recognisable: hard-hitting yet sophisticated, deeply soulful and relentlessly danceable.
Across his career, Lassiter has performed at some of the world’s biggest festivals and collaborated with an extraordinary list of artists.
