Coburn has built a remarkable career as one of Liverpool’s most accomplished live performers. A familiar face at the legendary Cavern Club, his career has also taken him across the Atlantic to Broadway in New York and into major arena productions. His previous album, Waterloo Key, demonstrated another side to the performer: Jimmy Coburn the original songwriter. At its 2018 Cavern Club launch, Coburn described that record in three words — “uplifting, positive, exciting” — while contemporary coverage praised the personal nature of his songwriting and its unmistakable Liverpool character.

Little Fiasco takes that story forward, but from the perspective of someone who has experienced a very different few years. Written against the backdrop of life since the pandemic, the album moves through happiness and sadness, hope and fear, vulnerability and determination. Its songs acknowledge life’s setbacks without becoming consumed by them. Instead, there is a thread running through the record: whatever happens, there is a way forward.

A personal struggle involving a throat operation forced the singer away from performing for a period of time — a particularly difficult prospect for somebody whose voice and live performances have been at the centre of his working life. Perhaps no song captures the spirit of the record more clearly than “Stronger Than I’ve Ever Been.” The track looks directly towards the upheaval of the pandemic and what followed, with Coburn singing: “There was a time when nothing was right, still trying to shake those blues and 2020 vibes.” It’s a small lyrical nod to a period almost everyone can recognise, but the song’s focus isn’t on remaining in the darkness. It is about emerging from it.
The track was released as a single in April 2026, ahead of the album, marking Coburn’s latest release following “Shadows of the Past” in 2025 and “No One Will Love You Like I Do” in 2023.
