MEET COMIC BOOK LEGENDS AT LIVERPOOL BOOK FESTIVAL!

Three comic legends are coming to Liverpool on Sunday 7th September as special guests of the inaugural Liverpool Book Festival! Marvel writers and editors Tim Quinn and Alan Cowsill will be giving a talk and selling comics and books, whilst official Dennis The Menace illustrator Nigel Parkinson will also be selling books and offering portraits.

Liverpool Book Festival is an exciting new event where book lovers can meet authors and purchase their books directly, in person. The event is taking place at Invisible Wind Factory and Make CIC from 12pm and will feature 60 authors, guest speakers, live music, street food, artisan stalls, workshops and more — with special guests that include legends of the comic world.

Marvel writer Tim Quinn will be selling and signing his books and will also give a talk about his time writing for Marvel! Tim entered the comics industry in the 1970’s working at various times as a writer, artist and editor for British publishers DC Thomson and IPC before, along with artist Dicky Howett creating Earth-33⅓ and its bizarre inhabitants for Marvel UK in the eighties. He has also worked for Marvel in the US at various times.

He will be joined by his side-kick Alan Cowsill, who will also be selling books, including his new one — Marvel’s Captain America: The Illustrated History: The Making of the Star-Spangled Avenger. Alan is an award-winning writer and editor who started out selling comics and magazines as a dealer before becoming a full-time creative, giving him a complete understanding of the industry from all sides. He has created stories for most comic companies, and edited hit titles for Marvel, Panini and Eaglemoss.

Also attending Liverpool Book Festival is official Dennis The Menace artist Nigel Parkinson, who will be giving a talk as well as offering sketches of people in the style of The Beano and selling new Beano books! Parkinson has worked for many publishers including The Beano, The Dandy, Fleetway drawing Thunderbirds, Stingray, Scouse Mouse and others, BBC Magazines drawing strips based on TV shows like Grange Hill, Baywatch, and as a ‘ghost’ artist for many titles published by D.C. Thomson.

Liverpool Book Festival is a must for book lovers and comic enthusiasts alike — with 60 authors, guest speakers, live music, street food, artisan stalls, workshops and more. The event is family friendly too — with storytelling, creative writing, illustrating and poetry workshops on offer for children on the day — and a special characters visit from Wish Upon A Party!

Liverpool Book Festival is taking place at Invisible Wind Factory and MAKE CIC on Sunday 7th September from 12pm until 5pm. Tickets to the event are just £10 and 20% of all ticket sales will be donated to charity partners Builder Book and Inspiring Minds CIC, who educate and empower through literacy and books.
