WOMAN ACHIEVES MUSIC DREAM AFTER LIFE OF TRAUMA!

A woman from Liverpool is about to achieve her music dream of performing live on stage after a life of trauma that has included addiction, homelessness, domestic violence and attempted suicide. Danielle Kasek, 45, is performing at the Primal Live charity song contest at Camp & Furnace in aid of The Whitechapel Centre on Saturday 20th July 2024.

Danielle will finally fulfil her dream at the huge event and will be competing against 24 other artists whilst raising money for the homeless of Liverpool. On the night, the audience will vote for winners of each heat after feedback from celebrity judges Jake O’Neill of The Voice UK, Lauren McQueen of Hollyoaks and Country legend Ethan Allen.

This achievement is something she would never have thought possible until recently. A bullied outcast in school, her only escapism was music yet she was always told to be quiet and was denied the opportunity of a recording contract after a record producer heard singing. This paved the way for a very dark road ahead.

Through lack of self-love, Danielle entered into toxic relationships from an early age, lost a child and suffered from nose damage after a bodged operation. She did become a young mother at 19 but turned to drink and cocaine and had a breakdown — resulting in her failing her nursing qualification at the final exam.

Danielle explained: “I went down a bad path from an early age and ended up in rehab where I met the wrong people and came out even more addicted to alcohol and cocaine. I got to the point where I’d cry when I had a line and even tried hypnotherapy but I still couldn’t stop my daily habit. I ended up in shelters before meeting my husband-to-be from Dublin, who later turned out to have a dark criminal past.”

Her new husband initially romanced her and two children followed, as did the violence and abuse. She suffered regular beatings and psychological abuse and was thrown out with her children — to the point that when the police turned up at the family home and arrested her husband they found weapons thought to be intended for her.

Danielle explained: “I felt trapped despite regular beatings that nearly killed me. When I finally found the strength to leave I moved to a house in a bad area, ended up addicted to crack cocaine, lost the house and became homeless again. That’s when I really hit rock bottom, took an overdose and ended up in hospital — getting my children taken off me in the process. It was this that finally made me turn my life around.”

Just after her 40th birthday, Danielle found the strength to never drink or take drugs again and worked on her relationship with herself — practising self-love and self-care. Today, some 5 years later and completely clean, she has custody of her youngest children now aged 7 and 8, and a strong relationship with her eldest children. She has also re-discovered her love and talent for singing.

Set to be a powerful and emotional night, Danielle will be raising money for a cause that’s close to her heart whilst fulfilling her denied childhood dream.

Danielle summarised: “My life has been harrowing and traumatic but I now understand that deep down it was my lack of self-love and self-esteem that got me down that dark path and into those really bad situations. I’ve been doing a lot of deep healing these past few years and am now in such a good place with my beautiful children. I feel truly blessed every day as I really shouldn’t be here.”
She continued: “I’m really excited and nervous about the event — this is an absolutely huge step for me and one I never thought I’d take after what I’ve been through. I’m hoping that through my story and by doing this, I can show people that it’s never too late to turn your life around, love yourself and fulfil your childhood dreams. The fact that we’re giving back to those in need like I was makes it even more special.”
