Co-Director Lisa Williams shares: “It’s been an incredible journey. My most memorable moment was walking into the very first Womanifest festival in 2020, I was nervous and didn’t really know anyone. By the time we left lockdown I had built up my network and delivered a workshop at the 2021 festival and I remember the tent being full. That was a very proud moment.”
She continues: “Fast forward to 2024 I was then honoured to take over the reins of Womanifest, I honestly still pinch myself now that I am shining the light for so many other women out there. Opening up the Womanifest 2025 festival will stay with me forever, it was a moment of euphoria.”

Across all events, gatherings and of course the main festival, the feedback Womanifest receives is profoundly moving. Women have shared that they finally felt like they belonged, that they came alone but never felt alone, and that attending events has helped them reconnect with themselves, rebuild confidence and feel seen and supported.

Co-Director Tracy Cawthray explains: “One of the most powerful things I’ve heard was a lady telling me that she finally felt like she belonged. That has stayed with me, because belonging is something so many women crave but rarely say out loud. I’ve also had women say that Womanifest changed their lives — and I understand exactly what they mean, because it’s changed mine too.”
She continues: “Women have shared that attending our events has helped them reconnect with themselves, rebuild confidence, and feel seen and supported again. Hearing those stories is incredibly humbling, and it reinforces why I’m so passionate about Womanifest. It’s not just about the events we create — it’s about the way those moments stay with us and continue to shape who we are long after the day ends.”

Co-Director Sara Hughes summarises: “It’s truly magical. Some of my most profound success stories come directly from the teens and their families. During the festival I had teenagers come up to me to personally thank me for creating a space where they felt safe to be themselves and truly accepted. Equally moving were the conversations with mums who shared how, in just two days, they had seen a remarkable change in their daughters’ confidence.”
She continues: “One mother told me that her daughter, who would normally never leave her side, was suddenly asking her mum to go off and enjoy the festival while she stayed behind with her “new friends.” Witnessing that level of trust, independence, and confidence blossom in such a short time has been incredibly rewarding and reaffirmed the importance of this work. It epitomises exactly what we aim to do.”
