Iconic 90s legends, The Boo Radleys, are returning for very special 30th anniversary gig! On Sunday 30th March 2025 at Rough Trade in Liverpool, the band will be performing an exclusive gig in celebration of 30 years of their No.1 album Wake Up, including the massive hit single Wake Up Boo!
A night of nostalgia awaits, as The Boo Radleys will take the audience on a trip back to the Britpop heyday of the mid-90s. The night kicks off with an exclusive interview featuring the legendary, Singer/Guitarist Simon Rowbottom, offering fans an inside look at the making of the iconic album, plus stories from their career.
Support comes from The Lunar Pull, friends and close collaborators, who will warm up the crowd with their electrifying set, before the band performs their entire Wake Up album in full — including the massive hit single Wake Up Boo! After disbanding in 1999, the gig is a rare opportunity to see The Boo Radleys perform their smash hit album live in full in their home city.
Formed in Wallasey in 1988, The Boo Radleys went on to achieve greatness — signed by Alan McGee’s Creation Records, reaching No.2 in the NME Album charts of 1993 with Giant Steps and then Wake Up reaching No.1 album in the UK charts in 1995. Their career lasted just 11 years but in 2020 they reformed (albeit without Martin Carr) and they are now coming to Liverpool for a very unique anniversary gig.
Carol Hetherington from Events 471 who are hosting the gig said: “We’re coming up to two years of putting on gigs in Wirral and Liverpool, bringing some of the best artists in the world to local venues whilst showcasing some of the best up and coming local talent alongside them. We’re coming up to 5,000 tickets sold across over 60 events during that time — with everything from jazz to folk to rap to electronic music.”
She continued: “As we approach our second birthday as an events company and artist development project, we’re thrilled to be welcoming on stage such an iconic act that achieved so much back in the day. Pretty much everyone old enough to remember the 90s will know their classic hit, Wake Up Boo, and we can’t wait for their exclusive interview and to hear the full album live on the night!”
The Boo Radleys is one of many exciting events announced by Events 471 for 2025 — including art exhibitions, Xander & The Peace Pirates, Yellowman, Birkenhead Ballroom and international jazz acts such as Everything Yes and Sungazer. Their CIC, 471 Routes CIC, is also putting on a series of events that celebrate diversity within the arts, as part of the Borough Of Culture programme.
