FEMALE MUSIC ARTISTS FROM MERSEYSIDE TO WATCH OUT FOR!

The Merseyside music scene is full of talented female musicians spread across all genres, from folk and acoustic to indie and rap. With Spotify paying artists very little for their music and with live music venues closing, there’s never been a more important time to support local artists and attend their gigs! In our list below, here are some incredible female artists to watch out for and support….
Ava Fitz
One of Liverpool’s most budding artists is Ava Fitz, who is originally from Port Sunlight. Ava’s music is ideal for anyone looking for some indie-pop or alternative music to infuse into their playlists. Although the singer-songwriter cites their biggest musical influences as The Smiths, Radiohead, and Sam Fender, Ava regularly gets compared to the likes of Dolores O’Riordan from The Cranberries and Sinéad O’Connor.
Ava was winner of the huge Primal Live song contest and recently, the Merseyside local has supported Huey Morgan from the Fun Lovin’ Criminals at Camp n Furnace and also Tom Rogan at The Cavern. Exciting times are ahead for Ava as she will be joining the likes of graduates Adele and Amy Winehouse by attending the BRIT School from September! Not only this, but the young artist has two new singles releasing soon – the first being Viva Le Luna, which will be available to listen to on 8th August.
And this isn’t all, Ava will be taking on the challenge of performing her first headline gig at The Arts Club Loft on 25th October 2025. You may have already come across the alternative music creator, as her song Without You was featured on Radio One this year, consequently meaning that Ava fulfilled one of her goals to be featured on national radio!

Bread Hotel
Bebington-based Bread Hotel is no stranger to the venues around the Liverpool region. A range of artists, including Adrianne Lenker and Leith Ross, have inspired Beesley Huskisson, who performs under the stage name Bread Hotel, to create her alternative folk sound. When Huskisson isn’t performing music and poetry at the ‘Wordsmithery’ nights in Birkenhead, she can be found writing and recording new music.
The latter months of 2025 bring exciting times for the singer-songwriter as the lead single, Force of Habit, for her upcoming album, New Quiet, will be released in October. The Wirral-based musician recorded the album, which she describes as her proudest achievement, entirely in their living room. Bread Hotel has just supported Toby Lee at Future Yard, along with fellow Liverpudlian artist Liz Owen.

Caitlyn Eve
Liverpudlian local Caitlyn Eve strives to create music which balances raw emotion, vulnerability and power in equal measure. Influenced by indie, rock and folk sounds, Caitlyn’s music is perfect for fans of Fleetwood Mac, Big Thief, and Kings of Leon. In her own words, the Liverpudlian singer-songwriter would best describe her music as evoking “the feeling of long drives through stormy weather, haunted by memories and soothed by hope.” Caitlyn’s music is also diverse; she can deliver a stripped-back acoustic ballad or be accompanied by a full band. Either way, the musician’s tunes are hard-hitting.
Caitlyn is also no stranger to the stage, playing festivals such as Sound City and Cosmic Cape, and supporting artists, from Rianne Downey and Ellis Murphy, all across the country. However, one of her proudest achievements is her upcoming headline set at Kazimier Stockroom on Seel Street, taking place on 13th September. The young artist’s most recent single, Runaway, released in July, is now available to listen to on streaming platforms.

Immi Dash
For fans of R&B, Immi Dash should be the next artist to add to your playlist! Although Immi is originally from the South West, she now calls Liverpool city centre home, which is ideal for gigging. Having grown up surrounded by music, you can hear infusions of Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, and Stevie Wonder in her melody lines, although more modern artists, including Olivia Dean, Joy Crookes, and Billie Eilish, inspire the artist daily. The wide range of artists that Immi is inspired by helped her understand that she finds it quite restrictive to be boxed into a single genre, leading to her music having notes of pop, soul, and R&B.
Since graduating from LIPA with a songwriting degree, Immi has played amazing gigs, such as Mahalia Presents in Bristol, and she supported Slum Village at Future Yard. Despite these incredible opportunities, the talented singer-songwriter cites her biggest achievement as having the confidence and courage to release her demos and play them live, something which she struggled with in the past.
July shaped up to be a great month for Immi, as she performed at the Jacaranda and released the first single, Fix It, from her upcoming EP, something which she is incredibly proud of, saying “It was a really liberating experience as a female songwriter to have so much control over my storytelling and the creative process.”

Katie Nicholas is one of Liverpool’s brightest talents. Based in central Liverpool, she creates music that transcends one singular genre, describing her most recent release, EP Chemistry, as “alt-country Americana with folk undertones!”. Chemistry is a four-song collection, celebrating the musician’s most popular tracks, which have each been reworked and reproduced. Speaking about the EP, Katie says: “I felt in order to move ahead with a fresh new beginning, I decided to honour my past and what got me started in the first place.”
Not only does Katie release her own music, but this year, she launched her own record company, Ladybird Records. Through the record company, she handles distribution and merchandise, as well as design services to all artists to help promote and market their music.
The singer-songwriter also took on a massive feat this year in the form of her Songwriter Diaries. Across 50 different videos, Katie shared her entire discography of unheard music that was written between 2010-2020. All 50 videos are now available on her YouTube channel! 2025 is shaping up to be a great year for the alt-country star as she is about to embark on a tour of the Isle of Man, alongside CAEL OAK and April Moon band, in September.

Liz Owen
Speaking of Liz Owen, she is also another Wirral-based musician to watch! On the back of releasing her debut album Beautiful Beasts last October, the singer-songwriter joined the likes of headliners The Royston Club, Nieve Ella, Keyside, and Overpass at Liverpool city centre’s music festival, Sound City 2025
Throughout summer and autumn, Liz has gigs lined up all over the region. The multi-genre musician has recently played an intimate gig at the Occulo Lounge in Southport. Tonia
Tonia creates something for everyone. As she crafts her music, the up-and-coming artist allows the sounds to develop naturally, so there are elements of indie, soul, alternative, and pop woven within her discography.
The singer-songwriter describes her music as being influenced the most heavily by fellow alternative female musician, Billie Marten and also BENEE. Marten’s emotional honesty is something that Tonia also strives to capture throughout her lyricism. Indeed, Tonia achieves this perfectly in her most recent EP, Different This Time, a collection of songs which the young artist describes as a “personal project” but also one of her proudest achievements.
This year has been incredible for Tonia, with a particular highlight being the opportunity to grace the ‘Introducing’ stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, which took place in Sefton Park, an experience which she describes as “surreal”. In terms of other live music, she has recently headlined Tories Can’t Dance in Liverpool, as well as playing Sound City, and she has also supported Josie Oliver, EEVAH, and Astles earlier this year.
2025 has not only been a big year for Tonia in terms of live music opportunities, but additionally regarding recorded music. Her latest single, Shine For You, was released in June, and her next single, Right On, is due to be released on 27th August. Both songs will feature on her upcoming EP, The songs we wrote in Norfolk, which is set to be on streaming platforms at the end of this year.
