SEROTINE: MANCHESTER’S TEEN ROCKERS SET FOR BIG THINGS!

We recently had the pleasure of attending and judging the latest Primal Live charity song contest — its first appearance in Manchester after three successful Liverpool events. Hosted at Band On The Wall, the event was oozing with talent and showcased some incredible bands and artists from the Manchester region. One of the bands on display was Serotine — a teen rock band who had decided to wear kilts and blew the roof off the venue with an explosive performance way ahead of their years!

With hundreds of teenagers and adults alike giving them a standing ovation after both of their performances, they certainly made a big impression. Finalists of that event, it was clear to see that Serotine are destined for big things. We caught up with them for a little Q&A and we’re excited that this could be one of the first interviews with a future household name….

LA VIDA: How did the band form?

SEROTINE: Jake and Zack are best mates from school, they used to play local jam nights and advertised for a drummer to join online. Summer answered the call and formed the band and continued to practise and play jam nights. Jamie was invited to come and jam along after playing poker with Zack and Jake at a mutual friend’s house he came down practised one Sunday afternoon and played a jam night with the band that evening and the rest is history as they say.

LA VIDA: What have been the highlights of your short career so far?

SEROTINE: The band really took off shortly after becoming a 4 piece supporting a local band at The Spinning Top in Stockport and absolutely tore the house down. Since then opportunities have been steadily progressing playing charity event at Atherton Colls FC which led to headlining the Friday night of a Bikers Rally weekender (which we’ve been invited back to next year).

We’ve had other gigs around Stockport and the Ramp in Horwich and we did a set at Leigh Pride. Primal Live was massive for us as a band and it was the biggest audience we’ve played to at such an iconic venue. An electric audience gave us a taste of the next level.

It’s been amazing to hear the feedback from everyone about our original tracks. To hear everyone speak so positively about our own material and see the reaction from the audiences is awesome. We have plenty more where that came from as well so looking forward to put them out there.

LA VIDA: What are the kilts all about?

SEROTINE: Jake went on a family holiday to Scotland and did a murder mystery in a massive manor. Him and his dad played Scottish housekeepers and went fully in character, buying kilts to wear for it. After that the kilts went untouched until Primal Live, where Jake and Zack decided to wear them on stage to stand out from the crowd and it sure worked.

LA VIDA: What does the band have planned?

SEROTINE: Since Primal we have booked several gigs The Ramp and we have our own headline show in November at Tilwalds Bar in Tyldesley sandwiched between two shows in Liverpool with Big Condo Records — Round The Corner on 15th and on the 29th. Tickets are available on our Instagram page.

We Believe Music gave us a slot on one of their promotion nights in Salford recently. It was great venue and networking with other bands is always good and being able to reach new audiences. We Believe Music kindly quoted us as the “Next SuperBand” on their social media after the gig and we are looking forward to working with them on more events in 2026. Having had management and promotion companies attend our recent gigs we are having conversations and exploring the best way to move forward.

We have headlining acts booked for December at The Spinning Top in Stockport and a Boxing Day Bonanza gig at Atherton Colls FC after the Boxing Day football match. We’ve started recording our own EP with 3-5 originals in production so we have more post production and final mixing sessions booked in. So we have set ourselves a goal to release our own music when we hit a certain amount of followers across our socials.

Working this in between GCSEs over the next 9 months or so is going to be the plan and just keep putting ourselves out there and gigging where we can and hopefully climb the next ladder on the circuit, reaching audiences who haven’t heard of us attaining more followers/fans and playing venues which are just on the next step.

We want it all now obviously but we’ve come so far in basically 6 months — we want to be measured and graft for our opportunity. We believe that once you’ve been to see us live you will walk away remembering us for all best reasons. We love writing, jamming performing and doing it all together — we just would love this to be what we do full time after our studies.
