A very special book written by parents for parents of neurodiverse children has become an Amazon Bestseller — with many profound reviews from parents saying how it’s helped them. Embracing The Extraordinary is a Wirral based project and the book is full of tips, advice and shared knowledge to help other parents on their journeys.
Led by Inspiring Minds CIC, Embracing the Extraordinary: The Reality of Parenting Neurodivergent Children, is more than just a book – it’s a beacon of hope and understanding for families who often feel unheard. This collaborative book features raw, honest stories from parents, experts, and educators, sharing real-life experiences and strategies that have helped children with ADHD, autism, and other neurodivergent conditions thrive.
The goal of this book is simple yet profound: to provide practical solutions, emotional support and a sense of solidarity to parents everywhere. Each chapter offers valuable insights into overcoming daily struggles, nurturing mental and physical well-being and celebrating the unique strengths of neurodivergent children.
The book was launched thanks to a successful Crowdfunding campaign that raised over £4,000 towards the publishing costs. Generous business donors, notably Cheshire Gates and Sandstone Dental Practise, and an army of generous individuals doted to the cause and as a result the book was launched — with thousands of copies now in the hands of parents with neurodivergent children.
A Meet The Authors launch event took place at The Quirky Cafe in Hoylake on Saturday 15th November and featured some profound and emotional talks from the parents who contributed to the book. They talked about their own personal journeys — from the meltdowns and overwhelming challenges to the beauty and light — and the launch was a great source of inspiration for all who attended.
Curator Shirleyann Haig said: “We are so very grateful to all who donated to this project. As a result, this amazing book is already changing lives! We’ve become a Bestseller on Amazon and we have even more plans to work with charities, schools and organisations to get free copies to parents who need it the most. It’s been an incredible team effort to get to this point and we now want to help even more parents.”
Embracing The Extraordinary is available to buy from Amazon, having already become a Bestseller on the platform. The book was curated by Shirleyann Haig from Inspiring Minds CIC, with nine other parents contributing, and was published via Estelle Maher’s TAUK Publishing.
