By the age of three, Marg already knew where she felt happiest — in the kitchen. Originally from the North East, her passion for cooking began at home with her grandad and even at that age she could confidently make proper chips. She soon moved on to baking cakes and scones from scratch with her ‘mam’ when her dad and brother went to watch Newcastle play. But when she reached high school, her relationship with food and her body changed dramatically.

Marg was bullied because of her weight and developed anorexia, dropping to just seven stone as a teenager. It was a devastating period — and one that would quietly shape the direction of her future work. Her life was further affected when her mum was diagnosed with lupus. Wanting to understand how the body works – and how food could support health – she began researching the immune system, nutrition and the emerging science around gut health.

She studied extensively and built a strong foundation of knowledge. Life then moved quickly. At 24 her father died of stomach cancer which triggered her poor relationship with food and led her to binge and comfort eating. At 26 she relocated to Liverpool, stepping into a new chapter in event management whilst continuing her studies.
At 40, Marg experienced a series of life-changing events in close succession. She went through a divorce, was made redundant and moved out of her home. Struggling with depression, she began searching for something that could help her heal and rebuild.

That turning point led her straight back to learning. Determined to create a meaningful new path, Marg committed fully to becoming professionally qualified in gut health, hormones and nutrition. What began as a way to cope soon became the foundation of an entirely new career — coaching part-time as an anti-diet coach initially. In May 2020 her mam passed away, which was the catalyst for her to go full time with her business.
Bringing her knowledge and qualifications of gut health, hormones and nutrition into her practice, this was also the time when she wrote her first book, True Taste, which was published in January 2021. As her confidence and qualifications grew, Margaret began cooking nutritious, nourishing food at wellness retreats. Her food quickly gained attention for being both genuinely supportive of health and deeply satisfying. Then, in 2024, came a pivotal moment.

Marg attended the Happy Place Festival in 2023, founded by broadcaster and author Fearne Cotton. Rather than simply attending, Margaret took a bold step and offered to cater for the VIP area. She was asked to provide a menu and was then put forward to provide food for the green room in 2024 and 2025, where Fearne and her celebrity guests would dine for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea — all prepared by Margaret herself.

From that moment on, she became the trusted choice for nutritious catering at the event. Her reputation soon extended far beyond one festival and she has also worked as VIP chef for Womanifest, as well as being a trusted partner for leading organisations including John Lewis, The Eden Project and EMS Healthcare.
