GLOVES UP FOR AUTISM RETURNS WITH HUGE ENGLAND V WALES SHOWDOWN!

New Brighton’s huge charity boxing event is back! Gloves Up For Autism returns to Riptide on Victoria Road on Saturday 14th November, promising an action-packed night of boxing as local men take on fighters from North Wales in a huge England v Wales showdown — all to raise money for children with autism.

Following the incredible success of last year’s event, which raised almost £7,000 for specialist sensory equipment for local schools, organisers are hoping to deliver another unforgettable evening of boxing, community spirit and fundraising. With 10 big fights on the card, the event will see local men stepping into the ring against opponents from across the Welsh border, with plenty of pride at stake as England takes on Wales!

Almost £7,000 raised for autism last year!

Last year’s Gloves Up For Autism event was a huge success, bringing together fighters, businesses, families and boxing fans for a fantastic night in support of a very important cause. The event raised almost £7,000, with the money going towards specialist sensory equipment for local schools, helping to improve the learning environment and everyday experiences of children with autism.

The equipment was purchased from local business Sensory Toy Shop, meaning the fundraising also supported a local independent retailer. Sensory equipment can make a real difference to children with autism and additional sensory needs, helping them regulate sensory input, feel calmer and more comfortable, and engage more effectively in learning.

From tactile resources and sensory toys to specialist classroom equipment, these products can provide valuable support to children who experience the world differently. The money raised last year helped provide local schools with resources they might otherwise have struggled to afford, making Gloves Up For Autism much more than just a boxing event. This year, organisers are determined to build on that success and raise even more money to support local children.

England v Wales — 10 huge fights!

This year’s event promises to be even bigger, with an exciting England v Wales theme bringing an extra element of rivalry to the ring. Ten fights are scheduled, featuring local men representing England against opponents travelling from North Wales. With local pride, bragging rights and a fantastic cause on the line, there’s sure to be an electric atmosphere as the fighters go head-to-head.

Organiser Chris Duff, who has a daughter with autism, said: “Our last event was incredible and we’re really proud of how much we raised. Whether you’re a lifelong boxing fan or not, it’s a chance to get behind local men who are stepping into the ring to make a difference. But while everyone will be hoping their side comes out on top, the real winners will be the children and schools who benefit from the money raised.”

Local businesses invited to sponsor the event for £300

As well as selling tickets, organisers are inviting local businesses to get involved by sponsoring Gloves Up For Autism. For £300, businesses can support the fundraising effort while receiving some great exposure in return. The sponsorship package includes advertising in the official event programme, two tickets to the boxing and a drink.

Chris said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for businesses across Wirral, Liverpool and North Wales to show their support for a worthwhile cause while getting their name in front of a local audience. With the event bringing together communities from both sides of the border, it’s also a great chance to connect with potential customers and demonstrate a commitment to giving something back.”
