The Turkish chef, Consultant for Halewood’s highly rated Casa Rima restaurant, flew out to Tunisia in September to judge the prestigious Gastro Tunisia International Festival and Culinary World Cup. The event featured chefs from 120 different countries who were judged on quality of cuisine, presentation and creativity — with Kemal selected as the UK’s representative judge.

This latest honour is another highlight for Masterchef Kemal’s CV — one that’s growing in achievements year on year. In 2023, Kemal won Chef Of The Year at the British Kebab Awards in London, was shortlisted in 2024 and has been shortlisted once again for 2025. In May 2024, he was recognised as one of the world’s best chefs with a prestigious Gastronomy Star Award in Gaziantep, Turkey.

Masterchef Kemal settled in Liverpool in February 2020, after a colourful career working at multi award winning restaurants such as Marrakesh in Leicester Square and winning a ‘Best Foreign Chef In London’ award. Now back in the UK following his latest international exploits, Kemal is preparing for a busy Christmas at Casa Rima — with Christmas Day fully booked and December bookings filling up quickly. Sunday roasts are back and proving to be a huge hit with locals — many of which are asking Kemal what his plans are next.
Kemal summarised: “For now, it’s just focus on Casa Rima and the very busy time ahead — we have developed a great reputation now so we’re often busy and the festive period will be extremely busy. Then in February there’s the British Kebab Awards again — will I win Chef Of The Year again? We’ll see.
