LIVERPOOL RESTAURANT FEEDS CHARITY FOR FREE THIS CHRISTMAS!

Liverpool One’s bottomless BBQ restaurant, Smoke & Dough, has provided a wonderful act of kindness by giving Wirral charity, Charlotte’s Brightside, a free Christmas night out. On Tuesday 10th December, 20 of the charity’s staff and volunteers enjoyed a free meal at the restaurant as a reward for all their hard work serving the community.

Having just celebrated its 5th birthday, Smoke & Dough has developed a great reputation for being an ethical, community focused restaurant. The independent family-friendly BBQ restaurant prides itself on being inclusive and affordable for all, with incredible value offers, and recent initiatives have included giving away 50 free pints on Fridays and ‘Kids Eat Free’ Sundays.

The team have also been doing great charity and community work in the background — helping raise over £4,500 for the Roots Foundation back in July and helping raise money for local charity Ykids. This latest initiative aims to recognise the ongoing work of the team at Charlotte’s Brightside, most of whom are volunteers, to bridge the gap in their community.

Founded in the name of Charlotte Churchill who tragically died in a car crash aged just 19, Charlotte’s Brightside is a community hub based in New Brighton. Through the community hub they bridge the gaps in society by offering a social supermarket and a wide range of free and low cost activities, initiatives and support — helping combat loneliness, isolation, poverty, lack of skills and mental health issues.

Charlotte’s Brightside’s Emma Walker said: “We had a fantastic Christmas night out at Smoke & Dough — it was so lovely of the restaurant and it’s great to reward the team for all their amazing work this year. Our volunteers are invaluable and without them we couldn’t open our doors. They are a massive part of what we do, turning up every day, every week and helping out at our events.”

She continued: “Day to day they help with the running of the centre, cooking meals, serving and cleaning up. In our social supermarket putting away deliveries, serving, filling up the shelves, picking up surplus food. They also play a massive part in the after school clubs we are able to offer homework club, youth club, art club, cookery club, karate and music. For Smoke & Dough to recognise them like this was really special.”

Smoke & Dough’s Sachin Bajpai said: “We’ve just enjoyed celebrating 5 years at Liverpool One and have become very successful, winning awards and gaining a fantastic reputation for offering great food, great value and great service. We pride ourselves on bridging the gap by offering a quality dining experience that doesn’t have tv break the bank.”

He continued: “It’s important for us to give back, whether that’s offering giveaways to our customers or through charity initiatives. The work of grass roots organisations such as Charlotte’s Brightside is so important in today’s world where more and more people are struggling, and their team and volunteers are very special people. It’s a please for us to recognise them and reward them for all that they do.”
