Big news on the Heswall restaurant scene! A new Mexican street food restaurant and cocktail bar is coming to the Wirral town soon — serving authentic street food style plates and an incredible cocktail menu. Tahona is on course to open in April — offering something completely new to the Heswall restaurant scene.

Tahona is the brainchild of Jamie McIlhatton and Warren Norton, the young entrepreneurs behind the successful Wylde Coffee and Lateral venues. They’ve teamed up with Jonty Trott, bringing his expertise in cocktails and bartending. The new concept is set to offer flavoursome Mexican dishes and inventive cocktails with a tequila twist.

Local foodies can expect fresh house made tacos, quesadillas, burritos and mango margaritas, to name a few mouth watering Mexican delights. The new restaurant and bar will be bright and colourful with a relaxed atmosphere and will be open 6 days a week (closed Mondays) — located next to Otto Lounge in the heart of the town.

Owner, Jamie McIlhatton, said: “We’ve always had the same ethos when it comes to opening food and drink venues; whether it be a coffee shop or a restaurant, we shouldn’t have to go over to Liverpool to enjoy city style places and special experiences. The Wirral’s an incredible place with an already buzzing hospitality scene and we just want to further that.”
He continued: “We’ve recently brought our General Manager and Head Bartender onto the team and we’ve all been mates for a while, with a shared love for Mexican food. We can’t wait to show people what he has in store and he’s even managed to get us to fall in love with Tequila (I never thought that was possible).”

The creative new concept is set to be fresh and different — with flavoursome and exciting dishes and drinks to offer the people of Wirral. Building work is currently in progress and a soft launch will soon be announced — with plans to open before the end of April and some fantastic opening offers.
