We recently attended the launch event of MOOVART: the free international art exhibition at RIBA, situated next to the Open Eye Gallery on Mann Island on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront. The exhibition runs until 28th August and showcases 32 Italian and international artists, including the work of Liverpool’s famous Italian photographer, Francesco Mellina.

If you’re looking to experience some art and culture then this is definitely for you, as there are some truly amazing works of art on display. The free exhibition is open from 10am until 5pm and offers visitors the chance to admire fantastic pieces from some of the world’s most exciting up and coming artists.

MOOVART comes to Liverpool courtesy of the Scientific Research Foundation Amedeo Modigliani in collaboration with MOOV VISUAL COMMUNICATION. It aims to promote emerging artists, not only through its virtual gallery, but also and above all in real form through collective exhibitions in internationally prestigious locations.

The first MOOVART collective exhibition was held in one of the largest and most prestigious royal palaces in the world, the Royal Palace of Caserta; the second collective MOOVART was instead hosted at the historic location of Castel dell’Ovo, the oldest castle in Naples.

During our visit we got talking to Italian artist, Ivano La Montagna, who gave us a fascinating insight into the meanings behind his powerful art. We also talked at length with Liverpool based photographer, Francesco Mellina, who was exhibiting his famous ‘Revealed’ photographs from the 80s punk, rock and pop era.
