NEW EVENTS ADDED TO MOOG ELECTRONIC MUSIC FESTIVAL!
Liverpool’s huge ‘The Moog At 60’ electronic music festival has just got even better — with new events added to the already blistering line-up!
A Saturday evening After-Party featuring live music and DJ sets at Commune, a sound installation using analogue synthesisers from Jacques Malchance and a Saturday afternoon showcase of electronic music by Liverpool Hope Uni staff and students, will join Will Gregory Moog Ensemble, Lydia Kavina, The Twelve Hour Foundation, Dave Bessell, Polypores and A Tribute to Kraftwerk for this exciting event in November.

From Thursday 21st November, Liverpool Hope University’s Capstone Theatre is hosting a four day electronic music extravaganza — paying homage to 60 years of the creation of the groundbreaking Moog synthesizer. The unique festival will see Will Gregory Moog Ensemble headline and an array of talent on display.
On Thursday 21st November, Will Gregory Moog Ensemble opens up the festival — a super talented collective led by Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory and whose other members include Portishead’s Adrian Utley and composers Graham Fitkin and Ben Foster. Expect sounds from their latest album Heat Ray — an album inspired by the work of Greek mathematician Archimedes.

A Jacques Malchance sound installation using analogue synthesisers, DEUS EX MACHINA, has been added and takes place in The Capstone Foyer from 7pm on Thursday 21st November and runs throughout the festival. The multi-disciplinary Italian artist, composer, DJ, musician, producer, promoter and radio host is regarded as one of the most talented DJs in Liverpool.

Following this, on Friday 22nd November, there’s a Lydia Kavina and The Twelve Hour Foundation double bill. Lydia Kavina has graced the stages of renowned orchestras such as the London Symphony, Radio France Orchestra and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, whilst The Twelve Hour Foundation have had airplay by the likes of Stuart Maconie, Gideon Coe and Pete Wiggs.

From 1pm on Saturday 23rd November, a free new event, Tension & Fusion, has been added! Over the course of an hour, local students and staff Manoli Moriaty, John Lowndes and Adam Hart and then finally Transient Shapes will be presenting a reflective exploration of synthesis, bridging past techniques with present innovations.

On Saturday 23rd November, there’s another double bill with Dave Bessell and Polypores. A classically trained musician with a doctorate in classical orchestration, Dave Bessell has also enjoyed an extensive career in popular music contributing to albums by Killing Joke and Suede. Meanwhile, Polypores has been featured by respected electronic music labels including Castles In Space, Polytechnic Youth, Woodford Halse, DiN and Frequency Domain.

Following that event on the Saturday, another new event added as Jacques Malchance is hosting an after party at Commune — formerly the old Melodic Distraction Radio space. The free event will feature some of Liverpool’s finest electronic talents, including REEDALE RISE (live), ARP-HLD (live), ISOCORE (live) and JACQUES MALCHANCE (dj set).

The four day festival culminates in A Tribute to Kraftwerk: 50 Years of Autobahn and Far Beyond. For the 50th anniversary of the band’s international breakthrough album Autobahn, music technology expert Mark Jenkins presents a striking live solo performance of the band’s hits. For lovers of the innovators and pioneers of electronic music, this very special anniversary gig is simply a must!

The Capstone Theatre’s Neil Campbell said: “During the past few years, The Capstone Theatre has become a hotbed of electronic music and we have hosted many packed out nights. This, our first ever festival of electronic music, will be particularly special — featuring some incredible acts in celebration of the groundbreaking instrument that changes music forever.
