What’s Great Himalayas about?
Situated at 665 Lord Street by the Manchester Road roundabout, Great Himalayas Nepalese Restaurant & Bar is a stylish new restaurant that offers authentic Nepalese cuisine in a relaxed environment. With beautiful décor and traditional Nepalese music, a visit here is a real experience.
Open Tues-Sat from 4pm until late and 2.30pm until late on Sundays, it brings something unique and different to the area — if you haven’t tried authentic Nepalese food then you’ll LOVE this place! The only Nepalese restaurant in Southport, it’s a must visit if you’re looking for somewhere new to try!

What’s on the menu?
Great Himalayas Nepalese Restaurant & Bar offers authentic Nepalese cuisine that’s full of flavour and colour — with special ingredients, spices and herbs sourced from Nepal. The owners, who are from the Himalayas, have recruited a highly talented Head Chef with years of experience who cooks using traditional Nepalese techniques.
On the menu you’ll find a great selection of starters, with plenty of options in the lamb, chicken, seafood and vegetable main sections and a specials section too. There’s plenty of naan and rice options, but don’t confuse it with an Indian restaurant — the mains are very unique indeed!

Our visit….
We visited on the second night and WOW what an experience! With the delightful décor including beautiful velvet covered seats, the relaxing Nepalese music, the great service and of course the quality cuisine — it was nothing short of spectacular! We enjoyed a couple of pints of Golden Everest Nepalese beer and some truly fantastic food!
We first enjoyed poppadoms with some interesting dips before trying a selection of starters — Chicken Lolipop, Lamb Momo and Fish Jhhir. For our mains we had the traditional Nepalese staple dish, Thali, and Akbare Chicken with crispy garlic naan. All dishes were incredible — oozing with colour and flavour and soft, delicate textures.
