The big launch event gave the people of Rhyl a flavour of things to come — with live sport on the state of the art L.E.D screens, pool, darts and entertainment from top acts Christian Parry, Marc Kenny, Buffalo Riot and Superfuzz. The venue has had a colourful history — built around 1850, it was turned into a wine merchant’s in the early 20th Century. In the 1950s it was bought by a brewery and became Ellis Vaults pub before being taken on by Gary Wright in 1986, who played there with his bandmates Neville and Ian. In the early 00s, Gary’s son Leigh rebranded it as Hidden nightclub — attracting DJs such as Dave Pearce and Judge Jules, as well as celebrities.

Leigh continued: “This iconic venue has so much history and my family has owned it for nearly 40 years now. When thinking about what to do with it we thought about what would work best for Rhyl and decided that music is something that brings people and communities together. We want to create unforgettable memories for people and bring that Mathew Street vibe to our seaside town.”
