Man Tsuen Ho’s Restaurant has opened on Nelson Street after an extensive two year refurbishment and has already received countless 5 star reviews.

The new restaurant aims to set the standard and revolutionise Chinese dining in Liverpool. Man Tsuen Ho’s Restaurant is very much a family effort led by the Ho family, who have gained an exceptional reputation for Ho’s Restaurant in Prescot. Through Man Tsuen Ho’s Restaurant, the family aims to become a game changer for the local Chinese dining scene, whilst hoping the restaurant will kick-start the regeneration of Chinatown.

Wilson Ho explained: “Many Chinese restaurants are very traditional in their offerings and we aim to bridge that gap. Whereas the traditional Chinese menu is usually separate for Chinese, we have opened it up for all diners — giving them some alternative choices and therefore offering thousands of combinations of dishes. Our extensive Dim Sum menu has been very popular too.”
He continued: “With our menu being so extensive, we have different kitchen departments and specialists in different types of cooking. All food is cooked fresh from scratch and we make our own chilli oils and sauces. We are big on service too — as many Chinese restaurants lack the customer interaction. We have plans to open the roof terrace in 2024 and our bigger vision is that we will help spark Chinatown’s regeneration.”

Liverpool’s Chinatown is the oldest in Europe however some buildings lie dormant and often tourists will just come to the area to get a photograph underneath the arch and then go elsewhere. The Ho family hopes the idea of a ‘super restaurant’ will bring more footfall to the area and they are entering talks with Liverpool City Council to see what more can be done to improve the area.
Tommy Ho said: “Liverpool is rich in Chinese heritage and we want to honour that by opening this very special restaurant in Chinatown, whilst also looking to the future and hoping it will lead to more developments in the area. So far the feedback has been outstanding and people are saying there’s nowhere quite like it around — especially after trying some of our alternative dishes!”
