Forming fashion rather than following it, the band renowned for firing festival crowds with rocket propelled cult hits such as Eleanor and Would You Rather Be Lonely are set to prove their pulling power once again with this epic homecoming gig on Fri 5 April 2024.

Once again recorded back home on the banks of the Mersey, and cherry-picking poetic vignettes of life by the waterside set to an altogether rougher and readier score, the album picks up cues from the relics of industry in their home city as well as absorbing their experiences on the road in the United States. The huge homecoming gig was 25% sold out on pre-order, so a full sell-out is anticipated!

We caught up with the band following the announcement of the gig for a quickfire Q&A….
LVL: Let’s get straight to it — what about this huge M&S Bank Arena gig? Would you say this is your biggest gig to date?
RED RUM CLUB: Yeah we’ve been eyeing it up for a while now but the people around us have given us the belief to take it on. We’re very excited!
LVL: How does it feel to be headlining a huge arena gig in your hometown?
RED RUM CLUB: It’s a dream come true to us. Ever since we started out our objectives have always been pretty bold but this is fairy tale stuff for us. It doesn’t feel real!

LVL: What can we expect from this epic night?
RED RUM CLUB: We will be working tirelessly between now and April to make this one an arena level show. We want it to be a massive celebration for our city.
LVL: What’s the new album all about and how does it compare to the previous three?
RED RUM CLUB: I think the new record is probably the most sincere and vulnerable writing we’ve ever produced. The production feels a lot like we’re revisiting our roots, we’re excited.

LVL: Taking it back to the start, how did you guys form?
RED RUM CLUB: Tom and Francis are cousins who asked for guitars for Christmas one year. Safe to say Santa Claus frickin’ delivered that year.
LVL: When you guys started out, did you envisage it all to get this big?
RED RUM CLUB: We always set out to achieve some pretty big targets when we started out but this does feel like a ‘pinch me’ moment.

LVL: What have been your most memorable moments/gigs so far?
RED RUM CLUB: We’ve had plenty of special nights over the years. I think the two Olympia shows we played at the end of 2022 felt like a highlight for us. It was all off the back of a massive US tour followed by a UK and Ireland tour so it felt like a massive homecoming.
LVL: What advice would you give to a band from Liverpool starting out?
RED RUM CLUB: Either commit yourself fully to what you’re doing or don’t. We’ve seen far too many promising bands pack in early doors because they’re not all in it together. Don’t feel sorry for yourself. Do anything and everything you can. Don’t worry about the things you’re not in control of!

LVL: And finally, what does the future hold for Red Rum Club? What are the plans to kick on from this album, the UK Tour and this huge arena headlining gig?
RED RUM CLUB: We’re currently on a US tour and then we’re focusing on the new record and the UK tour leading up to the arena show. If Si doesn’t go missing after that show then I’m sure we will kick on in one way or another.
