Darryn’s new kitchen offering at 21st Amendment in South Liverpool consists of a refined small plates and mains menu Weds — Sat. There are great offers such as £10 mains on Wednesdays, 3 small plates for £16 on Thursdays, 4 small plates on a sharing board for £20 on Fridays and 2 for £10 small plates on Saturdays. Then of course there’s the stunning Sunday roasts!

Darryn’s Sunday roasts at 21st Amendment have been going down a storm! To start, there’s Korean fried chicken, leek and cheddar croquettes or tomato, mozzarella and basil caprese salad and then a delightful offering of chicken, lamb or nut roast for the main. To finish, there’s either classic chocolate brownie, Autumn Berry cheesecake or apple and blueberry crumble with burnt oat crumb.

Darryn said: “I’m thoroughly proud to have been given the chance to take over the kitchen here. I’ve been working very hard over the years, working my way up from dishwasher, and it’s an honour to be recognised and given this opportunity. As for the media coverage I got, that was pretty wild haha!”

Darryn’s creations in Hoylake caused that much of a stir, he was featured by The Wirral Globe, The Liverpool Echo, The Chester Standard, Liverpool Community Radio and even international press. After a tough life in South Africa, Darryn settled in the UK and has since excelled as a chef — now heading the kitchen at one of South Liverpool’s coolest hangouts.

The venue also has an upstairs private dining space that Darryn has been using to host ideal private parties, dining events and tailored evenings. Such is the quality of his cuisine, bookings for the festive season have been flying in too. Served throughout December, 21st Amendment is offering 2 courses for £19 or 2 courses for £24 — featuring mains such as turkey, pork belly and sea bass. The private dining space is proving to be a popular choice for special festive dining celebrations.

There are lots of options for people here but competition is good and it will push me even harder to achieve the same reputation as I had in Hoylake.
