Now, with renewed energy and focus, he trains with Hoylake Swimming Club and Liverpool City Masters, and is a member of the Transplant Sport Swimming Club. In 2024, he competed in the UK Transplant Games in Nottingham and brought home an incredible five gold medals in 200m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 100m breaststroke and the Freestyle relay event.
Richard’s stellar performance at the UK Transplant Games earned him a coveted place on Team GB for the World Transplant Games, held in Dresden, Germany, in August 2025. Competing against top transplant athletes from around the globe, he took part in seven events — and proudly brought home four silver medals in 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke, 200m Freestyle and the Relay Event.
