Minds on the Mersey is a men’s mental health podcast built around real experiences, candid discussions, and a shared determination to break down the stigma that still surrounds mental wellbeing. Hosted by Sam Roberts and Chris Guy, the podcast goes beyond surface-level talk to explore the emotional and psychological challenges men face — from anxiety and stress to identity, loss and resilience.

Broadcast every other Monday, the show invites listeners into open-hearted conversations with guests from all walks of life. These are voices shaped by lived experience rather than theory — people who are willing to speak openly about their mental health journeys, the setbacks they’ve faced and the tools they’ve found to move forward.

What sets Minds on the Mersey apart is its grounding in authenticity and connection. The podcast isn’t about offering quick fixes or prescriptive advice — it’s about lowering the barriers that often prevent men from speaking up. By centring discussions on real issues and real people, it shows that strength lies in vulnerability and that no one has to face their struggles alone.

Sam Roberts, Trustee Of Mersey Mind Project, said: “We’re delighted to launch our new Minds On The Mersey podcast and we feel it’s very much needed. As a men’s mental health charity we’ve been hosting weekly drop-in sessions, walk and talk groups and sporting activities — through these we’ve come to realise just how important talking is. Through our new podcast we aim to use the power of talking to approach things head on.”

Fellow Trustee Chris Guy said: “Whether you’re listening on a walk along the river, during your commute, or in a quiet moment at home, the show offers a moment to reflect, connect and feel understood. Guests talk openly about topics such as work pressures, family life and the everyday stresses that can pile up without the support networks many need. Even if we help just one listener, we’ve done our job.”
