We visited on a Friday afternoon and firstly enjoyed some nachos before having one of their Calabaza bowls — a colourful creation with butternut squash, fennel and arbol. In terms of the small plates offer, we went for 6 dishes — pea tostada, chicken tostada, tostada de hongos, pina wings, buffalo cauli wings and eloti. Creative Mexican dishes bursting with flavour, washed down with some of their refreshing Jarritos sodas!

Of course, it would be a crime not to sample some of their new cocktails on a Friday afternoon visit! We sampled a Secret Mexican Garden Party — featuring tequila, poblano chilli liquer, manzana verde, lime and cucumber. We also enjoyed a Jalisco Old Fashioned (their version of an Old Fashioned featuring mezcal) and a Showgirl (their naughty twist of a Pornstar that comes complete with a mask to wear).

At La Vida Liverpool, we have the honour of sampling food and drink at many of the region’s best restaurants and bars and Pina Loca is one of the most exciting places to have opened in the last year. Located on Allport Lane in Bromborough Village, it’s a little out the way but well worth a visit due to the sheer quality on offer — especially during the afternoon with their amazing offers!
