Since forming in 2018, Rockpoint Leisure has been responsible for the regeneration of New Brighton’s Victoria Road area — with incredible street art and many new businesses in the newly named ‘Victoria Quarter’. With a big focus on keeping this local and independent, one of the buildings they are trying to save is the old Co-Operative supermarket.

For the past few months, the space has been used successfully for a number of exciting events. With the future of the venue uncertain, the CIC launched a GoFundMe campaign on 13th March 2022 — a public appeal to raise £50,000 to help support with costs such as rent until the concept is fully established.

Jamie Valerio, of local band Razzmatazz, said: “Daniel Davies and the Rockpoint Leisure team have been incredibly supportive of us and they are the reason we are where we are today. We have a free rehearsal space at Hope Anti-Supermarket and have played some big sell out gigs there including supporting space. It would be a tragedy if a big corporate took it over.”

The GoFundMe campaign to save the venue is underway and calls on anyone, especially local people, to invest in this venue in order for it to continue to support the local entertainment and events scene. All funds raised will be spent on 6 months rent totalling £50,000 — with many events scheduled over that period that will ensure a sustainable future.
