A remarkable true story from behind the scenes of some of Hollywood’s biggest films of the 90s is coming to Liverpool this autumn, as acclaimed one-woman show She’s Electric: My Strange but True Story arrives at the Capstone Theatre.
Taking place on Friday 9th October at 7.30pm, the inspiring production tells the extraordinary story of Vanessa, who spent a decade as the only woman working successfully as an electrician in the UK film industry. Prior to her current role as a top professional storyteller, she helped light the sets of major Hollywood productions — powering up some of the world’s biggest stars.
Blending humour, nostalgia and heartfelt storytelling, She’s Electric offers audiences a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of iconic movies while exploring themes of resilience, determination and breaking barriers. The production has already earned glowing reviews from audiences throughout the UK, cementing Vanessa Woolf’s reputation as one of the UK’s leading storytellers. As well as lifting the curtain on life in the film industry, the show celebrates women forging careers in traditionally male-dominated professions and the creativity, courage and perseverance needed to succeed.
The production kicks off the Autumn season at The Capstone Theatre, based at Liverpool Hope University’s Creative Campus on Shaw Street. The forward thinking theatre has announced its Autumn programme of enthralling and diverse events, including electronic music, jazz and plays.
