HUGE BOXING EVENT FOR AUTISM COMING TO NEW BRIGHTON!
An exciting new boxing event, ‘Gloves Up For Autism’, is coming to New Brighton on the 19th July 2024. The action-packed night is taking place at Oakland, 96-98 Victoria Road from 7pm and is all about raising awareness and money to directly help autistic children in Wirral.

Standing out from other boxing events, ‘Gloves Up For Autism’ guarantees a fair fight with no winner nor loser and both fighters having an arm raised at the end. That said, each fight is still bound to keep the audience on the edge of their seats — as local people will be going head to head in the ring on the night.
With excitement high during the lead up to the event, tickets have been selling like hot cakes — anyone wanting to help the cause and have a fantastic night at the same time should contact The James Atherton pub or Rockpoint Records for a ticket at only £25 each.

Gloves Up For Autism was created to bring people’s attention to the struggles many people with autism face and it all stems from the organiser’s little girl, Lucia Duff, who herself suffers from severe autism. It was this driving factor that inspired Chris Duff to help other children who deal with the same she does daily.
The aim of this wonderful night is to get as many people as possible to understand the hardships so many autistic children, and adults alike, face on a daily basis. With both awareness and money raised through the boxing event, a better and easier future is more likely to be achieved for all children like Lucia, especially with the hope for more events like this to come soon.

Organiser Chris Duff said: “Until you live have a child with severe autism, you won’t be aware of the struggles they face on a daily basis. This can range from not being able to talk or communicate properly to behavioural problems and struggling to fit in. Our little Lucia is still non verbal but she’s such a diamond and I’m doing this in her name.”
He continued: “It’s going to be an amazing event in New Brighton and lots of fun — with eight fights and sixteen fighters, featuring local people. The aim is not only to raise awareness of autism but also to raise funds to help support children like Lucia and every penny we raise goes directly to the children we’ll be helping.”
