A huge event to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Ferry Cross The Mersey is coming The Adelphi Hotel on the afternoon of Sunday 26th May! The special event will be hosted by the legendary Billy Butler and will feature all the biggest hits from Gerry And The Pacemakers and classics from the Merseybeat era.

The Adelphi’s majestic ballroom will feature top acts recreating the magic of the Merseybeat era. At 1pm there’s be a special screening of the Ferry Cross The Mersey movie, followed by quality entertainment from The Cavern Club’s The Shakers, Neil Ainsby and Tony Skeggs from 3pm at this historic event.

Expect an afternoon of nostalgia, as the charismatic Billy Butler and The Cavern Club’s finest take you on journey through the Merseybeat scene, 60 years after the recording of the iconic Ferry Cross The Mersey single on 27th May 1964. A celebration of that huge hit and the legacy of Gerry And The Pacemakers, it promises to be a very special event indeed.

The Shakers are widely regarded as one of the best beat groups from Liverpool since the 60s, packing out The Cavern Club with their high energy shows. They’ll be joined by top Gerry Marsden tribute Neil Ainsby and supported by Tony Skeggs, also a Cavern Club regular who spent 20 years with The Overtures as the country’s leading 60s tribute band.

Tram Productions have partnered with Mersey Ferries to host this commemorative showcase, following their debut sell-out Wack Pack event featuring Ricky Tomlinson, Asa Murphy, Joe Speare and Steve Charles. With tickets flying out, it’s set to be another incredible sell-out show from Tram Productions.

A new events concept from Tony Cook, who was until recently a member of an internationally renowned Beatles tribute band for 20 years and now a professional tour guide with The Magical Mystery Tour, Tram Productions has an exciting programme of events for 2024.

In addition to the sold out Wack Pack event and this special Merseybeat show, there’s a Coopers Reunion event (already sold out), big tribute shows, a Rock N Roll event, a Christmas swing and soul event and many more to be announced soon — including an exhibition from snooker legend Mark Williams. The idea is to bring ‘special’ celebration events to the city and introducing more afternoon shows.

Tony explained: “The reception for our first Wack Pack event at The Adelphi was incredible — we sold out well in advance. The feedback has been amazing and I think people appreciate the afternoon format in a classy venue. We have some massive events planned and talks are underway for another Live Aid Liverpool festival next year so watch this space for some huge announcements!”
