After the sell-out success of the UK’s first ever Pancrase fighting tournament back in September, Jigoku returns to Merseyside on 14th April and is set to be another entertaining extravaganza!
The Japanese mixed martial arts craze, Pancrase, hit UK shores in Liverpool for the first time last year and following its success, another spectacular event is being held at Poulton Victoria Sport & Social Club in Wallasey on Sunday 14th April.

Jigoku (meaning ‘Hell’ in Japanese) is an open weight fighting showcase with no judges, only point scorers, and will feature fascinating bouts between professional wrestlers, UFC fighters, karate fighters, jujitsu fighters, taekwondo fighters and more.
Expect large pro wrestlers fighting Brazilian jujitsu fighters and top Thai boxers fighting feared Bulgarian mixed martial artists! With nothing quite like this in the UK, this is a night of entertainment you won’t want to miss!

The first Scouse cage fighter, the first Scouser in the UFC and the UK’s only World Grappling Champion (twice), Dave is a hugely respected character and as a result, you can expect to be in the company of some fighting legends and celebrities on the night!

Dave told LVL: “I’ve had a really interesting fighting career but I’ve become disillusioned with modern day fighting. All the trash talk in boxing and UFC these days is ridiculous and a bad influence on kids. What I’m trying to do with Jigoku is create a really entertaining fighting brand whilst keeping the integrity and morals of sport. At our events we have a real mixture of people and there are no idiots, bad behaviour, trash talking or nonsense.”

Dave continued: “The last event was amazing and this time we’re going to have fights such as top catch wrestler and MMA fighter Terry ‘The Scouse Viking’ Hayburn defending his Superfight Champion title. We’re going to have Ian Jones, a top Thai boxer and catch wrestler who recently drew with top UFC fighter Josh Barnett, fighting the feared Bulgarian MMA fighter Nikolai Zlatev. We’re going to have grudge matches and all sorts going on and I can’t wait!”

Throughout the day there’s going to be inter club fighting with Karl Kilbride’s school of fighting before the main Jigoku event starts at 5pm. In addition to lots of one-on-one fights, there’ll be a four man tournament and a fight between The Dog Pit of Southport and Runcorn’s Pro Catch Team, amongst other things.
The event has open hand blow and no elbows rules, but other than that it’s open with no judges and some really interesting match ups.
