LINE UP ANNOUNCED FOR GRAND OPENING OF ELLIS’ VAULTS!

The line-up has been announced for the much anticipated re-launch of iconic Rhyl venue, Ellis’s. The Water Street venue has evolved over the years, most recently as a nightclub playing host to top DJs and celebrities, but Manager Leigh Wright is re-inventing it once again as a live music venue.

A huge refurbishment is currently underway at the legendary venue and in March it will re-open as Ellis’ Vaults — a new large capacity live music venue that aims to breathe new life into Rhyl’s live music scene. The re-invented Ellis’s will have music decor, a top of the range sound system, premium drinks and live sport and will feature top live acts, open mic nights and big events such as ‘Battle Of The Bands’.

On Saturday 1st March, the new-look venue will open its doors for the first time, with a huge all-day launch event. Ellis’ Vaults will be showing the live FA Cup matches prior to top live music throughout the day — featuring superb acts such as local lad Christian Parry, Mathew Street stars Buffalo Riot, Liverpool legend Marc Kenny and the enigmatic Super Fuzz, famous for their ‘Big Indie Night Out’ show.

The launch event will run from 12pm and is free entry but it’s advisable to arrive as early as possible to avoid disappointment — all free tickets released on Eventbrite were claimed within just three days! The opening is expected to be very busy indeed so people are urged to arrive early and the free tickets will act as priority queue jump tickets on the day.

Going forward Ellis’ Vaults will be open from 12pm 7 days a week, so those unable to attend the launch event still have plenty to look forward to. There’ll be live sport on Sky and TNT on the 10ft LED screen, quiz nights, open mics, Battle Of The Bands events and some incredible live acts every Friday night! The venue will have a pool table, dart board and there are plans for a beer garden in the summer.

The venue has had a colourful history — built around 1850, it was turned into a wine merchant’s in the early 20th Century when a J H Ellis took it on. In the 1950s it was bought by a brewery and became Ellis Vaults pub before being taken on by Gary Wright in 1986, who played there with his bandmates Neville and Ian. In the early 00s, Gary’s son Leigh rebranded it as Hidden nightclub — attracting DJs such as Dave Pearce and Judge Jules.

Manager Leigh explained: “It’s got some history, this place. The past 20 odd years has been amazing for our family business and we’ve had top nights with the likes of Dave Pearce, Judge Jules and Dirty Sanchez. Many a great night has been had here and we’ve had celebrities from Eastenders, Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Made In Chelsea and The Only Way Is Essex enjoying nights out at the club.”

He continued: “Times are always changing though and it’s important to adapt to them. We’ve been working really hard to refurbish this iconic listed building and we’re really excited to be bringing a vibrant live music venue to the town, with top quality up and coming and well known acts. We can’t wait to welcome people to our launch event and there are more plans such as an outside terrace opening in the summer.”
