LIVERPOOL’S PRIMAL LIVE MUSIC PROJECT GOES FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH!

Liverpool’s ground-breaking music project, Primal Live, is going from strength to strength following the second huge song contest at Camp & Furnace. The second event raised over £5,000 for The Whitechapel Centre, with almost 400 people attending the ever growing concept.

Founded by Andrew and Samantha Sampson, Primal Live takes music artists on a 6 week development programme before competing in a huge Battle Of The Bands style song conte. During the event, audience members vote for the winner of each heat before a big final with celebrity judges Jake O’Neil and Duncan Lewis and the winner receiving professional studio recording time.

The first event back in July saw 15-year-old Ava Fitz come up trumps, with a special judges’ prize given to Jordan Francis who rapped about homelessness. Indeed many of the contestants have themselves overcome adversities such as homelessness. This second event featured another wave of supremely talented music artists — with 19-year-old singer-songwriter Sam Leyden triumphant on the night.

The project has grown so quickly that almost £8,000 has been raised for The Whitechapel Centre already. Meanwhile, the team has grown with Jordan Francis coming on board to help support the artists on their journey and the international music college, SAE Institute, have come on board as partners thanks to their industry expert Duncan Lewis.

Primal Live’s Andy Sampson said: “I’ve been running Premier White Collar Boxing events for many years now — putting on events all over the world. We’ve raised millions for charities through these event during the past few decades so I decided to do the same with music — taking the artists on a development journey and giving them a platform to compete whilst raising money for charity.”
He continued: “The way Primal Live has taken off is incredible. Everyone is behind it and it’s just growing and growing. We have a great team now and offer artists support in many ways such as training in stage presence, vocal skills, social media and more — we also provide them with quality content. It’s great for them, whilst the song contest is an amazing event for people to attend and raises lots of money for charity.”

The next huge event is planned for April or May 2024 and any artists interested can apply via the Primal Live website. In the meantime, the last group of artists are working on a big Christmas charity single about homelessness called Always A Home At Christmas in collaboration with the SAE Institute that aims to raise awareness and more funds for The Whitechapel Centre.

Samantha said: “We’re so excited for the charity single! We’ve heard the first version and it’s unreal so the final version with loads of artists involved, harmonies and solos going on will be really powerful — I genuinely think it could be a No.1 hit! It’s just fantastic to see how our little song contest has grown so big already — we’ve raised almost £8,000 after just two events and we’re really excited for the future of it!”
