SPOKEN WORD & STORYTELLING COMING TO THE CAPSTONE THEATRE!

If you’re looking for something fascinating and alternative at the theatre to entertain you during these darker months then look no further than The Capstone Theatre! As forward thinking as ever, the venue is putting on two spellbinding nights of spoken word and storytelling as part of its Autumn/Winter programme.
Dracula Bitesize — Fri 28th Oct, 7.30pm

A Halloween weekend special, as Jon Iles (from ITV’s The Bill) and low clarinet specialist Sarah Watts collaborate to bring you a 60 minute adaptation of the classic tale. The adaptation by the performers follows previous recorded collaborations including The Story of Pinocchio, Feed the Beast and Feed the Hound. Expect a contemporary, dark performance that will leave you dying for more!

Knickers & Queens: Tales From Mythic England — Weds 23rd Nov, 7.30pm

Part history, part story-set, part straight-up rant, Knickers and Queens is a fierce and funny double-bill of spoken-word storytelling for grown-ups courtesy of Stephe Harrop — an exciting contemporary storyteller who spits out new words and re-spins old tales to try and make sense of a crazy world.
Henry V: The King’s Knickers willfully picks at the fraying knicker elastic of national identity, asking what a mythic hero king – and really huge pants – can tell us about being English today. Queens of Albion: Bronze and Stone fuses medieval poetry with autobiography, revealing how a giant made Stephe miss her ninth birthday party, and finally setting the record straight on the story of Albion’s mythic foremothers.
