The band, made up of teenagers Joey, Kaiden, Alfie, and Lewis, delivered a standout performance that electrified the crowd and judges alike — blowing the roof off the Baltic Triangle venue in a dynamic performance way ahead of their years. Despite having only formed six months ago, the four-piece has quickly made a name for themselves with their raw energy, musical chemistry, and explosive rock sound.

Short Notice’s journey began in school, where a shared love of music brought the members together. What started as casual jamming sessions soon evolved into a serious project — and it didn’t take long for the buzz to build. Their debut single, “Why Won’t You Leave,” has already caught the attention of fans and critics, and they’re currently hard at work on their first EP.

Their win at Primal Live cements their reputation as one of Merseyside’s most exciting up-and-coming bands. With youth, talent, and momentum on their side, Short Notice are proving that sometimes all it takes is six months — and a lot of passion — to make a big impact.

Alfie said: “It’s been a whirlwind few months since we got together. We’re all in school and college so we’ve all had exams to study for but we’re all absolutely buzzing about the future of our band. We have a big following already and have had sold out gigs at Zanzibar and Sotto. We’ve also played at Underground Festival at Jacaranda Baltic, West Kirby Live and at FutureYard.”

He continued: “To win Primal Live song contest is a massive achievement for us considering we’ve only been together a few months. There was so much talent at the event with over 30 amazing artists and bands so to win is fantastic for us. We now aim to focus on releasing music, putting on great shows and seeing where it all leads.”

The event was the third Primal Live song contest — a concept that has grown in popularity, raising over £10,000 for the Liverpool homeless and receiving coverage from The Guardian, NME, BBC North West Tonight, The Liverpool Echo and many other outlets. Artists and bands go on an 8 week development programme whilst raising money for charity and competing in the big song contest.

Primal Live’s Andy Sampson said: “We’ve had some unbelievable talent perform at our events and it just seems to get better and better. This last event was oozing with talent and it was an extremely difficult decision for the judges but I can fully see why Short Notice were selected as Best Performance — they were electrifying and blew the roof off the venue!”
