WIRRAL TRAMPOLINE PARK PRAISED FOR “ABOVE AND BEYOND” INCLUSIVITY

‘Jumpin Josephs’ in Bromborough has been commended for their meticulous efforts regarding promoting inclusivity for all, striving to create a welcoming environment for people of all needs, including weekly SEN sessions.

In 2016, Letitia Dixon founded the 5-star trampolining park, driven by her desire to provide an affordable yet joyful experience for everyone. Utilising her background in the wrestling entertainment industry, Letitia has created a very special concept where fun, enjoyment and exceptional customer service are at the forefront.

After visiting a trampoline park in 2016, Letitia was disappointed about the lack of customer engagement and the reluctance of staff to assist her and her children, and set out to change this. She wanted to eradicate the negative connotations associated with trampoline parks and was determined to create a welcoming environment which offered customers a much more friendly and personal experience.

Letitia wanted to differentiate herself from other competitors, aiming to employ a workforce that goes “above and beyond” to cater to customers’ needs, which she believes is the pivotal aspect of her business, as pleasing customers is her number one priority. The Jumpin Josephs’ “superheroes” have set the venue apart from other trampoline parks, combining trampolining with a full on show.

Letitia believes that “we should all be able to do something regardless of abilities”, which captivates her prominent advocacy for inclusivity within trampoline parks, and she believes that everyone should be able to experience the fun and joy of such activities.

Letitia explains: “I come from a wrestling background, as my family have owned All Star Wrestling for decades. At our events, people from all backgrounds enjoy the shows — including many adults and children with additional needs — so this ethos is very much at the forefront of my mind. When I opened Jumpin Josephs, inclusivity was key and I wanted to ensure that no child would miss out.”

Jumpin Josephs offers numerous opportunities for people who have additional needs, including the weekly SEN hour on Saturdays from 9:45 am until 10:45 am. This allows children who may be light or sound sensitive to experience the glee of trampoline parks. During this hour, it is ensured that there is a minimal amount of sound, with no flashing lights, in order to cater to individuals who require additional needs, which has received a vast amount of praise from parents.

Creating a “happy and safe environment” is essential for SEN children, and so Letitia employs a specialist from Autism Together in order to constantly adapt her business to understand and incorporate specialised features for SEN children. She is also hoping to implement a harness above the trampolines to cater for wheelchair users who cannot walk, which would allow them to experience the joy of the trampolines too.

Her strong, inclusive stance is fundamental in maintaining good customer relationships throughout her business. Jumpin Josephs is one of the only places that offer SEN parties, which allows children with additional needs to arrive earlier, before the rush of people, ensuring a quieter space is provided, hence allowing all children to enjoy the incredible facilities that Jumping Josephs offers.

As well as the strong inclusive outlook on the business, Jumping Josephs offers a wide range of incredible facilities, including the 5-star cafe. Additionally, the broad range of facilities located on the premises, including Thai massage, hairdressers and a beauty room, offers a spectrum of amenities for all.
