4AM PRODUCTIONS RETURN WITH GRIPPING PLAY AFTER SELLOUT SHOWS!

Liverpool’s innovative and forward thinking production company, 4AM Productions, are back with a gripping new play after sell-out shows in 2023. They Don’t Care About Us is a captivating crime thriller that explores racial prejudice and social injustice — coming to Hope Street Theatre for three nights on 30th May 2024.

After a hugely successful debut year and two critically acclaimed sell-out productions, 4AM return with a dramatic, thought provoking play set in Liverpool in 1997. A tense, dark and gritty production that will keep everyone guessing till the end, it follows the story of young poet Vanessa Campbell and her friend Dinesh Sharma, of Indian heritage, who is convicted of her murder. The question is, did he do it?

Written by Sab Muthusamy and Rachel Louise Clark, They Don’t Really Care About Us is inspired by the famous Michael Jackson song by the same name. Like the theme of the song, it delves into racial injustice, treatment by the police and the justice system but also explores sexism and misogyny in the workplace and society.

Given the overwhelming response to 2023 shows Murder At Cadberry Manor and Book of Horror, an enthralling and highly entertaining night of drama is anticipated. One of the most exciting new production companies on the North West theatre scene, 4AM Productions have been praised for tackling important subjects and their inclusive approach to casting.

Founder Sab Muthusamy said: “To sell out our debut shows over multiple nights is an amazing achievement, one I’m thoroughly proud of, particularly in the case of Murder At Cadberry Manor that sold out during Eurovision week. The feedback for them was unreal and it sets us up nicely for this next production that promises to be just as gripping and entertaining.”

Sab summarised: “After multiple audition rounds and also several self tapes to get through, we finally got our cast together. Some familiar faces but mostly new ones which is what we like, working with as many talented people as we can, giving opportunities to people and making new friends! The cast has a great variety in experience with some appearing across many productions all the way and one making her debut.”
