Renowned abstract artist Daniel Meakin is bringing a splash of Barcelona-inspired creativity to the Wirral this summer with a vibrant Painting Party at Tanskey’s on Friday 10th July at 6.30pm. Set against the stunning backdrop of West Kirby promenade, with sweeping views across the estuary towards Wales, the evening promises to combine art, food, drink and socialising in a truly unique setting.
Hosted by internationally acclaimed artist Daniel Meakin, the event will begin with an engaging talk from the artist himself, offering guests insight into his creative journey and career spanning more than three decades. Participants will then enjoy a relaxed painting tutorial before creating their own canvas artwork using acrylics, collage, glue, pens and a variety of mixed media materials.
Guests are encouraged to paint whatever inspires them, with Daniel also on hand to offer ideas, guidance and optional step-by-step instruction for those looking for inspiration. At the end of the evening, everyone will be able to take their completed canvas home — either as a personal keepsake or a handmade gift.
Adding to the Mediterranean atmosphere, guests will receive a complementary glass of Sangria and a lavish Spanish banquet from Tanskey’s — featuring Catalan Scouse, slow-cooked beef infused with chorizo, black pudding and paprika, patatas bravas, paprika-infused chicken wings, whitebait with alioli and lemon, a selection of Spanish meats and breads, and pan-fried garlic mushrooms in a creamy sauce.
Daniel is excited about the event, explaining: “The Spanish-themed event draws inspiration from my years living in Barcelona, where I owned and operated a successful art gallery and regularly hosted popular painting parties. I am now based in West Kirby, so have decided to bring the creative concept to the Wirral for the very first time. It will be a wonderful event and the first of many I hope.”
With a Degree in Fine Art and a Masters Degree in European Fine Art, Daniel Meakin has built an international reputation as one of the leading names in abstract figurative art. Over the past 30 years, his work has been exhibited and commissioned across Europe, the United States and Australia, attracting collectors worldwide — including investment giant JP Morgan.
Having previously run a successful gallery in Barcelona, Daniel now resides in Wirral and showcases his acclaimed work locally — with exhibitions at West Kirby Arts Centre, The Everyman Theatre, Wirral Open Studios and Dot Art — whilst he continues to paint commissions for people across the globe.
