Attention actors and musicians of Hamburg! Auditions are taking place for a big production about the life of Cynthia Lennon which is coming to Hamburg during the Come Together Hamburg Beatles Festival! The play was a huge success in Liverpool during International Beatle Week and now it comes to Germany from 26th — 29th March 2020!

The play, which documents the life of Cynthia Lennon before, during and after Beatlemania, was a big hit in the UK and received coverage in The Guardian and the BBC news. After selling out the entire week of International Beatle Week and following its fantastic reviews, it’s now coming to the Come Together Hamburg Beatles Festival and offers creatives of Hamburg a fantastic opportunity to be involved!

‘This Girl’ (a play by celebrated Liverpool playwright Mike Howl) tells the true story of Cynthia Powell — a shy student from Hoylake who fell in love with a young musician called John when they met at Liverpool Art College in 1957. She became Cynthia Lennon, his wife, and mother of their son, Julian.

The play, which is also a musical featuring original songs, charts the emotional journey of Cynthia’s life. It tells the story of a lovely person, whose life was full of good times and bad times but also one peppered with humour. It provides audiences from across the world a fascinating insight into the life of a woman who was key to the early success of The Beatles.

‘This Girl’ — The Cynthia Lennon Story is to be performed at The Uwe, Spielbudenplatz. in Hamburg during the Come Together Hamburg Beatles Festival between 26th and 29th March 2020. It offers a unique opportunity to actors and musicians of Hamburg to be involved in something very special that will boost their profile massively!

Auditions for the Hamburg Premier will take place at The Uwe, Spielbudenplatz, Hamburg on Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th January from 3pm and the following roles are required:
- A four piece band (Three guitars and drums, or five piece including piano) who are interested in Rock’n’Roll/Merseybeat music
- Cynthia Lennon, playing age 18 – 25 Actor/Singer
- John Lennon, age 18 – 25 Actor/Singer
- Aunt Mimi, age 40 – 50 Actor
- Cynthia’s Mother, Lil, Age 40 – 50 Actor
- Cynthia’s friend, Phyllis Mackenzie, age 18 – 25, Actor
- Brian Epstein, age 25 – 35, Actor
- Astrid Kirchherr, age 18 – 25, Actor/Singer
- Stuart Sutcliffe age 18 – 25, Actor/Singer
- Paul McCartney, age 18 – 25, Actor/Singer
- Dot Rhone (McCartney’s girlfriend), age 18 – 25, Actor
- Noel Charles age 45 – 55, black Actor
It is envisaged that the performers thereafter will be invited to Liverpool to take part in the production during The International Beatles Festival in August. ‘This Girl’ represents a really exciting opportunity for everyone to take part in a joint Hamburg/Liverpool production.
