As far as years go, it’s safe to say 2024 has indeed been a dream for the Liverpool hair magician. The past 12 months have included working for — Download Festival, Colour World, COLOR.ME Salon International, London Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, Copenhagen Fashion Week, The Liverpool Wedding Show and Annabel’s Private Members Club in Mayfair.

Michael moved to Liverpool in 2017 after falling in love with the city and opened Michael Franks salon on The Strand. With a supremely talented team behind him, the salon has gone on to win many awards such as Best Salon In Merseyside, the L’Oreal Colour Trophy and Diversity & Inclusion Award at the LGBTQ+ Business Awards, whilst being a longstanding highest rated salon in Liverpool on Salon Spy.

Michael’s personal achievements prior to 2024 have been equally impressive — with clients such as NBC News, the Irish President and top sports stars — and he has developed a reputation for being one of the best stylists in the industry. The past 12 months, however, have been an absolute whirlwind!

Michael explained: “It’s been some year, for sure! It’s been crazy with so much going on! Download Festival was amazing again — styling hair for famous rock stars was awesome — and looking after VIP’s at Annabel’s in Mayfair was an honour! Then there was Colour World and COLOR.ME Salon International, incredible two day events with top professional hair colour brands representing Kevin Murphy.”
He continued: “As for the London, Paris and Copenhagen Fashion Shows — just WOW! To have been part of three prestigious international events in one year has been unreal and at Copenhagen I got to work alongside Lana Del Ray’s team! The Liverpool Wedding Show was a great experience at The Exhibition Centre too — it’s certainly been one of my most memorable years to date as a stylist.”

In addition to running Liverpool’s No.1 salon and taking the world by storm, Michael still finds time to engage in great causes. He and the team recently provided free services for the Strictly For Liverpool Women’s Hospital dancing event that raised £75,000 for the hospital. He is also involved in the Hair & Care project for blind women and Hair Reborn that offers free treatments for chemotherapy patients.

And what next for Michael and the salon? He summarised: “In terms of the salon, I feel we have the perfect team now so the plan is to keep doing what we’re doing and remaining the highest rated salon in Liverpool. We truly want everyone who walks out our salon to feel like a superstar, so let’s keep that going in 2025! On a personal level, I’m currently a Finalist to join the Hairdressers Federation Fame Team so fingers crossed!”
