The BRIO Memorial Charity Match has been organised in memory of Brian Laycock, who sadly passed away three years ago. ‘Brio’ was a hugely popular figure both locally and in the Merseyside music and entertainment industry. What started as a quickly arranged event has already gathered incredible support from the local football community, with organisers hoping for a fantastic turnout on the day.

The match will be played on Saturday 9th May 2026 at 2pm, taking place at Ashville Football Club, Wallasey, CH45 8RH. The fixture will see two special sides go head-to-head: Greenleas Legends – featuring Brio and Gaffer’s legendary Greenleas & Ashville side reunited once again VS. In Demand Radio All Stars – made up of presenters, staff, celebrities, ex-professionals and Brio’s closest family and friends.

Supporters can pay on the gate or purchase tickets in advance. For those unable to attend but still wishing to support the cause, donations can be made online: Organisers are encouraging the local community to come down, show support, and help make the day a fitting tribute while raising vital funds and awareness for prostate cancer.

Gary Laycock said: “It’s going to be an emotional day paying homage to my brother but also one that’s going to raise much needed awareness and money for prostate cancer. It’s going to be an incredible day and it’s really heartwarming to see the community come together like this for a cause — using sport as a tool to raise awareness and money for prostate cancer.”
