CHEFS SET UP CATERING BUSINESS THAT SUPPORTS MEN’S MENTAL HEALTH

Two chefs have set up a catering business that supports men’s mental health. Top chefs Josh Parry and James McGregor have been friends for 8 years after working together in kitchens and through Fusion Catering & Events they offer high end catering for a low cost, whilst giving back to men’s mental health.

Using their combined 27 years’ kitchen experience, Josh and James are offering hot and cold buffet packages from £7.50 per head for all occasions and events — from small to large scale — and birthday packages featuring ice cream vans and bouncy castles. In addition to this, they are offering bespoke private dining and pre-made meals — with premium quality and great value in everything they do.

Josh has worked for national chains, Premier League football clubs and a double rosette steakhouse in The Lake District, whereas James has also worked at football clubs as well as Gusto and Hickory’s. The pair have now combined their skills to create a top quality and affordable catering business with men’s mental health in mind.

Fusion Catering & Events aims to not only become one of the finest catering businesses in the region, it will also give back to local men’s mental health charity, Wirral Wise Guys. Having both had their own experiences of mental health, working long unsociable hours in kitchens under pressure, they are offering free catering to the men’s mental health charity for their events.

Josh said: “James and I met years ago when working together and we’ve become firm friends ever since — following each other to new restaurants as we advanced our careers. The hospitality industry can be very demanding, especially as a chef, so finding a friend like James to work with is great! Now we’ve created Fusion and we’re excited to become our own bosses, but we want to recognise mental health too.”

James added: “We work really well together and have loads of banter and that’s got us through some of the most stressful times in the kitchen. With Fusion we’re looking to bring that high end feel to catering for all occasions, whilst keeping it super affordable for people, but also want to do our bit for mental health. Wirral Wise Guys are a great local grass-roots charity and we’re looking forward to feeding them.”

Wirral Wise guys was founded in February 2024 and supports local men through free football sessions, walk and talk groups, 1-2-1 mentoring and more. Fusion Catering & Events will provide a free buffet for their big community and fundraising events, starting with their big Father’s Day event this summer.

Wirral Wise Guys’ Chris Guy said: “As a small charity, it can be difficult to get funding for our great work. We therefore have to rely on fundraising events and the generosity of people and businesses, so guys like Josh and James providing catering for our events is amazing — every penny saved can go towards positive mental health activities and support for men.”
