Clare Higgins and Stephen Pickles are both Wirral born and have picked St. Helens to grow their business. Clare said: “I started this business mainly for my kids. To be able to work as my own boss, to have the hours I need and to be able to pick my kids up from school. I thought it would be harder than it is, I am not from around here, but this little community has welcomed us with open arms”.

Since opening its doors two years ago Ggs Glam has quickly gained a loyal clientele, thanks to Stephen’s keen eye for style and her commitment to making everyone feel beautiful. “Starting this journey I never thought I would meet as many friends as well as clients”, notes Stephen.

Clare has introduced special events called “mini pamper” where children can come together for hair makeovers, refreshments, and fun. These gatherings have fostered friendships and a sense of belonging.
Clare explains: “The clients all have children and they come in with their little ones, if they have just picked them up from nursery and every single one is obsessed with what their mum is getting done. So, I thought it would be a nice idea to make it about them as well”.
