A huge football event is taking place at Marine FC on Sunday 23rd March to support men’s mental health. Men’s mental health charity, Wirral Wise Guys, are playing against Rainbow Toffees and Magenta Living — with food, drink, a raffle and auction taking place afterwards.
The afternoon of football starts at 4pm and is raising funds to support free football sessions for men’s mental health charity, Wirral Wise Guys. The event is an opportunity to enjoy some great live football, food and drink and a chance to win some top prizes and football memorabilia — all for a great cause.
Wirral Wise Guys’ Football Therapy is a free, regular game of football for local men — promoting mental and physical wellbeing, friendship and sharing any problems. Through their network and various activities, the charity tackles isolation by encouraging men to open up and be part of a supportive community. Funds raised from this event will cover pitch costs from March 2025 onwards.
Wirral Wise Guys have recently had coverage from ITV for their great work in bridging the gap and using sport and physical activity to help men open up. Meanwhile, the opposing teams on the day also do great work in the community — Rainbow Toffees are the official LGBTQ Supporters Group of Everton FC whilst Magenta Living work wonders to support those in deprived areas who need help.
Wirral Wise Guys’ Chris Guy said: “It’s really inspiring to have three different organisations come together to support men’s mental health and it’ll be a fantastic day of football and camaraderie that will help our charity continue the free Football Therapy sessions. Football is a great way of bringing people together and it’s a powerful tool to help raise awareness and funds for good causes.”
Tickets to the event are just £10, with all profits going towards Wirral Wise Guys and also Tuebrook Hope Group — a community charity helping people throughout Tuebrook and adjoining communities offering activities and excursions for local residents. Businesses can get involved by sponsoring the Home or Away Kit for £500, Match for £250, Man Of The Match for £100, Match Ball for £50 or Programme for £20.
