For the last 12 months, Indigo Greens have been changing dietary perceptions across the North West and doing amazing things in the world of vegan meal prep — providing restaurant quality vegan cuisine available for delivery or collection.

Their 100% vegan and cruelty free dishes, consisting of organic, natural and plant based ingredients, have been creating quite a storm and despite being a fairly new venture, they’ve already picked up a Liverpool Lifestyle Award in 2018. Now, following their meteoric rise to success, they’ve opened their first eatery on Queens Drive in West Derby and we decide to check it out….

What’s Indigo Greens’ new place all about?

The quirky, colourful cafe front and slogan ‘food from a higher consciousness’ tells you a lot about the ethos within, but it becomes even more apparent once inside. The first thing you’ll notice is the amazing artwork that brings the walls to life with a mural of spiritual and nature themes running through and plants and leaves hanging down from the pallet ceiling.

Their new eatery is a cosy and informal place — an ideal meeting place for those with a more conscious approach to diet and a great place to watch the world go by with relaxing music in the background. That said, Indigo Greens‘ new premises is much more than a healthy eating place. Fully supporting a holistic approach to living well and living consciously, they have an upstairs space where people can practice and enjoy a range of body, mind and soul therapies.

Their upstairs wellness centre offers various classes, from yoga to meditation to sound healing sessions, human design coding plus workshops of all kinds — they currently host a different healer each day including reiki, fire cupping, massages, crystal bed therapy, astrology and tarot. Their classes and treatments are open to people of all abilities and requirements and you can keep up to date with what’s on via their Facebook page. Offering a much more holistic approach, Indigo Greens is somewhere you can not just eat well, but live well.

What’s on the menu?

Indigo Greens have their existing meal prep food portions and drinks available for collection, but as an eatery they have a set menu all day and a new special each day. Head Chef and Owner, Patti Bullock, utilises an array of flavours from her globe trotting experiences and brings them back to her home city to infuse traditional dishes with modern twists.

The set menu offers a range of vegan dishes using plant based and natural ingredients, freshly prepared every day. You’ll find raw chilled dishes such as Bircher Muesli (soaked organic oats, apple, coconut, sultanas, omega 3 seed mix, chia seeds dried apple) and a variety of breakfasts including a Full Indigo Breakfast which is a cruelty free version of a Full English amongst other things on offer. You’ll find a range of guilt free desserts, smoothies, juices, superfood shots, ice teas and speciality organic flowerpot teas as well as speciality coffees such as cacao, turmeric, beetroot and chai lattes. On Sundays the menu changes, as they offer a 1, 2 or 3 course Sunday Roast Dinner featuring Soup Of The Day to start, a main of cranberry, orange and sweet potato nut roast, lemon thyme garlic spuds, mushy peas, braised red cabbage and apple, carrot and turnip, maple parsnips, broccoli and cauliflower and homemade chocolate fudge brownie for dessert.

Booking is highly recommended! To keep up to date with their menus and food prep offerings they have an app that can be found via your app store on your phone under Indigo Greens and you can view photos of their culinary creations on Instagram.

Our visit….

We visited late morning on a Thursday, just before it got busy for lunch. As it had only been open for 3 weeks, when we visited the supremely talented artist, Mark Walsh, was making the finishing touches to the captivating wall art he had created. It was great to chat with him, some of the other guests and of course the people behind the amazing concept — Mark and Patti.

We were given a guided tour of the upstairs wellness centre before being shown to our table — each table is named after a positive affirmation and co-owner, Mark Aston, was keen to highlight that at Indigo Greens you’re more than just a number. We sat at (and in) ‘Harmony’.After our delicious and healthy food and drink (a Full Indigo Grilled Green breakfast and turmeric latte for Amanda, a Rhubarb & Ginger Chana Dahl curry with rice and a beetroot latte for me), Mark told us more about the Indigo Greens concept: “Some people might think we’re just another vegan meal prep company but we’re much more than that! It’s been an incredible journey over the last year with winning awards for meal prep and reaching out to the community, bringing awareness to the city, but now we’re ready to show even more people that you can eat nutritious and delicious food without consuming animals.”

Mark continued: “Our new eatery is a meeting place for conscious people, somewhere you can escape to, and we offer plant based cookery classes, one to one nutritional support, well being classes and a range of holistic treatments. We’re helping people eat AND live well.”

Why we love Indigo Greens….

With an ever increasing number of people experiencing ‘awakenings’ and developing a more conscious, cruelty free and healthy way of eating, it’s refreshing to see ethical businesses emerging that support better lifestyles.

Indigo Greens is Liverpool’s only 100% restaurant quality vegan eatery and is a small independent business that’s a prime example of this shift in consciousness, but they’re not here to cash in on a fad or trend — they practise what they preach and the attention to detail in their new eatery is a revolutionary breath of fresh air that has been designed and created with love, promoting both eating and living well and offering a whole range of wellness services. We love the food and drink at Indigo Greens — healthy, fresh restaurant quality food and drink that’s not only delicious but cruelty free. We love the people and their attitudes towards living. We love what they’ve achieved in a short space of time, picking up awards and changing the world meal by meal.

We love the new eatery — the decor, the artwork and a place you can escape to and enjoy a range of classes and treatments too. We love Indigo Greens and we wish them luck as they continue to grow and provide more and more people with better and more conscious lifestyles.
