Paula’s successful new venture comes after a series of bad luck in business. Back in 2017 she opened Alhambra bar at Cain’s Brewery in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle — developing a great reputation and becoming an award winning business. In June 2021 she relocated to a bigger premises on Green Lane in Old Swan and spent around £70,000 on refurbishing the building, however tragedy soon struck.
Paula’s bar was flooded and completely destroyed by a main water pipe that burst beneath her bar and the story hit the national news. United Utilities took one year to re-imbursed her the money she invested in the refurbishment however she still hasn’t received a penny for any personal damages, loss of business or loss of earnings and has been abandoned. With her business and future in ruins, things got so bad she even had to use food banks.

Paula explained: “The whole event was very stressful — having all my hopes and dreams come crashing down in one fell swoop thanks to United Utilities. I went from being a successful businesswoman to Universal Credit within a year — I had such a good life, business and future but it all got turned upside down. I lost my confidence, suffered depression and didn’t work for years after the disaster.”
She continued: “Prior to owning the bars I’d worked in beauty and aesthetics, so it had often crossed my mind to return to the industry when I was ready. Discovering the ground-breaking new Plaxel Plasma Pen was just the inspiration I needed and it feels amazing to be back in business. I’ve gained my confidence back and it’s going even better than I imagined. I have lots of happy clients and I’m fully booked for weeks in advance!”
