Something that affects every woman, yet something that is lacking expert support, the menopause can be extremely debilitating. A recent survey from the British Menopause Society revealed that 36% of women said their menopause symptoms impacted their social life, 50% said it affected their home life, 50% said it affected their sex life and more than a third said it affected their work life.
Indeed, 42% of women said that their symptoms were worse or much worse than expected yet only 50% of women sought professional advice. Even those who do go to their GP are likely to only receive a brief consultation, leaving many women feeling disillusioned and alone, and this is why Amanda Prince is bridging the gap and offer more in depth support.

Amanda explained: “My experience of menopause started when I was mid 40s although the signs were probably there earlier. Even though I am medically trained I wasn’t educated in menopause back then and didn’t realise or understand the impact it would have on my life. Looking back now realise that I had been experiencing hot flushes, sleeplessness, brain fog and fatigue that was at times all consuming.”
She continued: “I also started to experience stiff and painful joints that prevented me from exercising for a couple of years. I never for one moment thought of menopause, you don’t really as a busy working woman with children to support. You don’t tend to think about getting older or putting your needs first. I was taking the contraceptive pill but without having periods it’s difficult to monitor where you are with menopause.”

With a business background in health foods, holistic therapies and sports nutrition followed by a degree in biomedical sciences and 15 year career in the NHS as a Paramedic and later as a Physician Associate, Amanda started exploring solutions.
She managed to create a lifestyle that alleviated many of her symptoms and went on to gain more specialist qualifications in menopause, with the aim of helping other women in the same way. Amanda is also fully qualified in all aesthetics treatments and still has clinic days doing this as it’s something that she enjoys — making people feel their best.

Amanda explained: “I started pilates and it played a big part in my recovery from joint problems. I became pretty expert at it and continue it now. I can remember waking every morning at 3-4am and because I couldn’t sleep, I’d do pilates — it’s been a huge help throughout menopause. I’m also very health conscious and aware of my diet, making it as nutritious as possible, and this was so important.”
She continued: “My HRT journey was a revelation. I felt like I was back to being me again. My energy levels and ‘zest’ returned and I felt like leaping out of bed in the morning instead of rolling over and going back to sleep. I was fortunate enough to have a medical background with skills and knowledge behind me but so many women lack support, so I’ve made it my mission to help as many women as possible.”
